How does this whole thing work?
Applicants on ApplyKite are looking for guidance from people who've done what they're trying to do. You'd like to mentor. We connect the two sides and make sure it goes well. In practice, you get a mentor profile with the packages you're willing to offer, a one-off CV review, a full application-cycle mentorship, interview prep. It's your public signal that you're available, and bookings come to you.
What do mentors actually do?
Guide applicants through finding supervisors, contacting professors, and shaping CVs, statements of purpose and interviews. The mentee does the work; you show them how, from the side of someone who's already been through it.
How much time does it take?
You're busy, that's the point of the format. There are no minimum hours and you control your capacity entirely. Most mentorships run a handful of sessions across an application cycle, and cycles end: this isn't an open-ended commitment.
What's expected from me?
Mentees outline their goals when they reach out: target degree, field, countries, timeline. We only expect honest communication about what you can actually take on, and empathy for someone earlier on the path you've walked.

How much money can I make?
You set your own rate and keep 70% of every payment; the remaining 30% covers the platform, payments and support. Payouts are sent globally via Wise. We're at the start of this marketplace, so we won't quote you average earnings we don't have yet. What we do have is the demand side: 100K+ applicants already on ApplyKite. Founding mentors get priority placement as it grows.
Can I do more than mentoring?
Yes. ApplyKite also offers full application support, where consultants manage applications end to end. Strong mentors are the first people we invite into consultant roles.
